I'm a writer and journalist whose work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Slate, CNBC, NBC News, Lit Hub, Electric Lit, and more. My nonfiction debut, Poe for Your Problems (Running Press/Hachette, 2021), was a Barnes & Noble holiday catalog pick, a Library of Virginia Book Club selection, and a finalist for the Library of Virginia’s People’s Choice Award.Originally from South Carolina, I grew up in Richmond, Virginia. I hold an English degree from the University of South Carolina and an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.I've been a guest on dozens of podcasts and radio shows, including NPR, The Daily Stoic, and Slate’s Dear Prudence.
